Whenever we talk about car racing and racers, a few names come to our minds. Fans of these sports will end up giving you an endless list of personal favorite racers, that is exactly why we have decided to mention just some of the most famous car racers in no special order or ranking. Car racers are the ones who make these sports possible and millions of people, fans and money revolve around them. Being their profession one of the most dangerous ones, it takes a special kind of person to take on such challenges. At speeds that go beyond the 330 kilometers per hour in F1, for example, there is no room in racers for hesitation or fear. Car racers belong to a special breed, and that is why we will talk about them in this article as a tribute to these popular heroes. In our special list we have decided to include car racers such as Ayrton Senna, A.J. Foyt, Mark Donohue, Richard Petty and Sebastian Loeb.
Ayrton Senna da Silva, the Brazilian driver that was able to get 3 world championships before he died in a tragic car accident back in 1994. This highly skilled driver impressed his rivals and even team members due to his desire to win and gutsy driving style. Another very popular driver belonging to the car racers&; elite is A.J. Foyt, born in Texas, he raced the Indy 500 for an outstanding 35 years in a row, winning the event four times in the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 24 Hours of Daytona, the Daytona 500, and the 24 Hours of LeMans. He is so skilled that he possesses 12 championships in different disciplines, and he has won a total of 138 official events. Next we have Mark Donohue, who competed in all kind of events ranging fro F1 in 1971, 1974 and 1975, NASCAR and endurance racing. In 1972 he won the Indy 500s, event that he ran 5 times. Being a mechanical engineer, he worked with Porsche designing the 917-10 and 917-30 race cars. He died in a crash in 1975. Richard Petty is definitively at the top of any ones&; list when it comes to car racers, winning 200 NASCAR races, staring 513 times in a row in an 18 year span. Known as &;The King&;, he won 7 NASCAR championships at a time in which cars were stock and the driver&;s skills had to be great to compensate for the cars&; flaws. Last but not least we have Sebastian Loeb, the best World Rally car driver in history and the most successful one with an amazing eleven year career with 54 wins and six championships. He has also competed in the 24 Hours of LeMans and has tried to compete in the F1 but has failed so far due to certain requirements he has failed to comply with in order to get his Super license.
